I like the PDA with phones instead of the phones with PDA functionality. For me, you can do a lot more with PDA phones. It’s kinda bulky compared to the usual mobile phone but you can be more productive if you use it properly.
One of the gadget’s I’m looking at currently is the O2 Atom Pda phone. It is powered by Windows Mobile 5.0, it is triband, has a built in wifi connectivity, onboard FM radio, 2 mega pixel camers, and a nice looking LCD screen.
Some people have issues about this PDA phone but I believe the Atom’s firmware upgrade solved those issues.
Here’s some of the items in the upgrade.
Overall Performance - Improves overall performance. Reconfigures memory system to allow more storage memory available to Outlook (PIM) data synchronization and to programs that must be run under primary storage space.
MMS client - Updates MMS software to 4.0.0 (Build 111) that supports insertion of multiple photo/video images.
GSM software - Provides better handling of GPRS, EDGE connection. Improves RF performance in weak signal areas.
Camera software - Improves performance of camera application and camera start up time. Adds a new video capture mode. Improves performance of album application.
Audio - Increases output level from stereo headset.
I’ll be checking out other PDA phones and see what the over PDA devices offer. I’ve already blogged about the Treo 700 before in case you would like to read about it.
