Sanyo Xacti HD1a Adds Video iPod Mode, In-Camera Editing
Published by John July 13th, 2006 in Others
Sanyo’s Xacti HD1 was the smallest, lightest HD digital media camera when it came out the first of this year. Now Sanyo’s rolling out the HD1a, with some slick refinements including:Â
- A recording mode especially for video iPods and other portable video players
- In-camera editing functions
- A selectable 16:9 widescreen still picture mode
The video iPod mode is 30 fps, 320×240 pixels optimized for MPEG-4. In-camera editing is a big help if you’re trying to save space on the memory card, because you can eliminate unwanted footage on the go. (Find more specs here).Â
A 2-gigabyte SD memory card will give you 42 minutes of hi-def video recording capability. The new SDHC 4 gig card, as soon as it’s available, will double that capacity.  Its combination of 10x optical zoom, PictBridge printing capability and 5.1 megapixel still shooting resolution would make this a great camera whether you’re shooting videos or stills, or more likely, both. Sanyo’s MSRP is $699.99.
