Skype Now Talks To The Phone On Your Desk - Through VIVOphone Voice Key
Published by John August 13th, 2006 in VoIP Device
We all know what a phone looks like, right? Of course, these days so many different devices give us voice communication that it’s hard to generalize.Â
People who have gotten hooked on Skype’s free voice over internet protocol (VoIP) phone service have been using a microphone and headphones hooked up to their computer to make calls.Â
Lately we’ve been hearing about a new generation of wireless handsets that will use broadband to hook up to Skype. Now, there’s a way to hook your “ordinary” telephones, wired or wireless, into Skype. It’s called VIVOphone Voice Key.
VIVOphone Voice Key is a device about the size of a cigarette lighter, with a USB plug on one end to go directly into your PC. There’s a phone jack at the other end where you can plug in your “ordinary” phone. Presto! You can now make Skype calls (or calls on VIVOphone’s VoIP network) on a “real” telephone.
The device allows you to dial Skype contacts or landline numbers directly from that ordinary phone. You can also set up conferences, or route the Skype service through your small business PBX system.Â
