For this radio station from Tokyo, listening to music should not only be an auditory but also an olfactory experience. Tokyo FM, in collaboration with NTT Communication Corporation has developed a radio program that allows listeners to enjoy music as well as the scent of fragrance wafting through the air. The radio program “Tapestry can be downloaded from the station’s website. Then an “aroma joule, which contains six perfume compounds, is connected to the PC through USB.
When the user starts up the radio program, the aroma joule produces the right mix of perfume depending on the music played and sprays a 1% mixture into the air. The aroma joule also lights up with various colors for a more pleasing effect. Now listening to a radio program is a full sensory experience.
