Sony’s original VAIO flash memory portable went on sale in July (replacing the hard drive version).  With only 16GB of flash plus 512 mb of RAM it lacked credibility as a replacement for laptop/notebook computers.

Now Sony’s Type U comes with double the flash - 32GB, plus 1 full gig of RAM.  Same 4.5 inch screen.  At $1,800 it’s still pricey, but for road warriors who need more than a PDA but less than a notebook it might just be worth it.
