The Sharper Image has done everything it can to convince people that it’s more than just Ionic Breeze air cleaners and Turbo Nose Hair Trimmers.  Witness one of its latest products:  The Love Handler.

It promises to target the oblique muscles of my core torso, which I can promise you haven’t been targeted in some time.  Just a few easy swings of my body, it says here, will give me the ultimate core workout.

Unfortunately, products like these (and the beautiful demonstration models hawking them) have not been enough to salvage the career of Sharper Image’s longtime CEO Richard Thalheimer.  The board of directors has ousted him.  Never mind the fact that he started the whole thing back in 1977 (with a waterproof runners watch as his first product), and still owns 21% of the stock.

Analysts complain that Sharper Image’s product mix, including the R2-D2 Interactive Droid and the Hands Free Can Opener, just isn’t compelling enough.

My nose hairs would disagree.
