Philips Gives Everyone A Corner Office, Kind Of
Published by John October 5th, 2006 in Home Gadgets
Philips is very much into light technologies - witness their Ambilight backlit flat screen televisions. Now Philips is toying with artificial sunlight; and for anyone with seasonal affective disorder, it could be better than drugs. Maybe.
This “Sunlight” is mounted on the wall, and promises an energy boost by controlling your body clock with the use of natural light rhythms. There’s also an alarm clock version of this that sits on your night table, and the light gradually grows brighter over the course of half an hour or so, simulating a sunrise. (Personally, I need a simulated neutron bomb to get me out of bed, but that’s just me.)
Check out all the other new age “sense and simplicity” stuff Philips is displaying in London this week, from writing on the wall with light and therapy garments to virtual training coaches.
