There’s nothing radically new about the technology behind Hammacher Schlemmer’s new portable DVD player.  It’s so obvious that using wireless headphones is a good idea, that you have to wonder why no one else had done it before.

Doing it wirelessly will absolutely make it more fun to watch this player sitting in the back of the car, or in airline seats.  Yes, there are speakers, if you want to share the sound with the rest of the car or the plane or the whatever.

Its rechargeable battery runs for 3 hours, or it will plug into AC or DC sources and play forever.  Not bad at $199.95 including the two sets of wireless headphones.
