Bring Home 3 or 4, If They’ll Let You: Vizio’s 42″ HD Plasma Under $1,000

Cheapskates (I count myself among them) have been waiting for the moment when a real HD plasma TV would sell for under a grand.
Black Friday is the day. Costco is the place.
Vizio’s model VP42 42 inch 720p/1080i HD plasma TV comes with HDMI, 10,000:1 contrast ratio, and an over-the-air HD tuner. The built-in HD tuner means you can be really cheap, hook up a pair of rabbit ears and enjoy HDTV without cable or satellite.
As a happy owner of a Vizio 37 inch LCD TV I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another Vizio product, if I like the look of the picture. Don’t take my word, CNET also gives Vizios pretty decent reviews.
They are not state-of-the-art top-of-the-line home theater type sets. But a lot of people are going to be taking them home next Friday and I bet nearly everyone will be glad they did.
